New Delhi: Cyclonic storm Amfan, which has a speed of 190 km per hour in coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal, has caused huge havoc. 12 people have died due to this storm. This intensified after reaching the coast between Digha in West Bengal and Hatia Island in Bangladesh, causing massive destruction in coastal areas. Many areas of Bengal destroyed

 Reacting to the storm, the West Bengal Chief Minister said, 'The situation is more worrisome than the coronavirus epidemic. We do not know how to handle it. Bengal has suffered so much that it cannot be described in words. Areas of the area were destroyed. I faced a war-like situation today. At least 10-12 people have died. Nandigram and Ramnagar, two districts of North and South 24 Parganas were completely destroyed. '


Speed ​​over 160

According to PTI, at least 6.58 lakh people were evacuated to safe places in West Bengal and Odisha before the cyclone hit. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed near the center of the cyclone was 160–170 kmph when it reached the coast of West Bengal. Many videos of the storm are also going viral on social media, in which it can be seen clearly that very high waves of the sea are seen. Due to heavy rains, many places were flooded and electric poles are bursting with fireballs.




Catastrophe in Odisha
 
The storm has also wreaked havoc in Odisha and at least three people have died here due to the amphon. Director-General of Meteorological Department Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, due to the cyclone, there was heavy rainfall in many areas of Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Ganjam, Bhadrak and Balasore districts of Odisha.
